Welcome to the DC Queens — The Mother Chapter of UOPSA-USA!

As the first chapter established in the United States, the DC Queens hold a distinguished place in the history of our great association. We are the foundation upon which UOPSA-USA was built, and we proudly embrace the title of The Mother Chapter with gratitude, humility, and a profound sense of responsibility. Our legacy is one of unity, love, service, and an enduring commitment to the generations of Queens who will follow in our footsteps.

We are a vibrant sisterhood of Queens in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, united by our shared roots in Okoyong, our cherished connection to our alma mater, and our devotion to Our Lady, Queen of the Holy Rosary. Our chapter stands firmly on three pillars: Sisterhood, Service, and Support for Our Alma Mater. These values guide our activities, strengthen our bonds, and inspire us to make a meaningful difference in our community.

Our Journey of Rebuilding and Renewal

Like many organizations, our chapter has experienced seasons of change. Following a transition in leadership, we faced a significant decline in membership, with only 30 dedicated Queens remaining. However, rather than allowing this challenge to define us, we chose to embrace it as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and growth.

Through determination, perseverance, and a renewed commitment to our shared vision, we embarked on a journey to rebuild our chapter, strengthen relationships, and welcome new members. We are delighted to have registered 10 new members, an encouraging milestone that has rekindled enthusiasm, restored a sense of belonging, and renewed our collective determination.

Today, we move forward with optimism and purpose, committed to fostering genuine fellowship, expanding our community involvement, and supporting our beloved alma mater through meaningful, sustainable, and affordable projects. Our story is one of resilience—a reminder that when Queens unite with a common purpose, challenges can become stepping stones to greater achievements.

Honoring Our Legacy as the Mother Chapter

We recognize that being the Mother Chapter is both an honor and a responsibility. We remain committed to leading by example, encouraging the growth of new chapters, and preserving the enduring values of unity, love, and service upon which UOPSA-USA was founded. We strive to be a source of inspiration, guidance, and support to our sister chapters across the nation.

Celebrating Sisterhood and Fellowship

We hosted a joyful and successful Mother’s Day Celebration, bringing our Queens together to honor motherhood, cherish friendship, and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood. This special gathering reminded us of the beauty of belonging to a community where women encourage, uplift, and celebrate one another.

We also celebrated our school’s feast day in honor of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady, Queen of the Holy Rosary. This meaningful occasion allowed us to deepen our spiritual connection, celebrate our shared faith, and reaffirm the values that unite us as Queens.

Serving Our Community with Compassion

Guided by our motto, “Hearts and Hands Together,” we proudly organized and carried out a Homeless Blanket Drive to bring warmth, comfort, and compassion to individuals experiencing homelessness in our DC community.

In the spirit of love and kindness toward our neighbors, we also shared food and drinks with members of the community. Through these acts of service, we demonstrated that even modest contributions, when offered with sincere hearts and willing hands, can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Our commitment to service extends beyond individual projects; it reflects our belief that true sisterhood is strengthened when we reach beyond ourselves to care for those in need.

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter of Possibilities

With renewed energy, growing membership, and a stronger sense of unity, we look to the future with confidence and excitement. One of our greatest upcoming milestones is the privilege of hosting the UOPSA-USA National Annual Convention in the nation’s capital, welcoming our sisters from across the United States to Washington, DC—the city where the UOPSA-USA journey in this country began.

We look forward to making this gathering a memorable celebration of our heritage, shared accomplishments, enduring friendships, and collective vision for the future. It will be an opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, strengthen our national sisterhood, and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals that unite us.

As we prepare for this important occasion, we remain mindful of the legacy we carry and the responsibility we share in building a stronger, more vibrant association for generations to come.
